DUBLIN, Ohio – Byeong Hun An (68-67-69-69 – 273, -15) reached a PGA TOUR playoff for the first time in his  career Sunday at the Memorial Tournament presented by Nationwide before eventually being defeated by Bryson DeChambeau (69-67-66-71 – 273, -15) on the second extra hole. The entire playoff was held on the 18th hole with DeChambeau and An both making par on the first extra hole while Stanley was eliminated with a bogey. An had a birdie chip for the win roll just past the cup.

An’s approach shot on the second extra hole went into the gallery while DeChambeau hit his to within 12 feet of the flag. An rebounded with a brilliant flop shot to set up a short par putt and put the pressure on DeChambeau to make his putt for the victory.

An had played the final 14 holes of his final round in five-under par to get into the playoff with five birdies (5, 6, 8, 14, 17) after starting his day with two bogeys (1, 4) over the first four holes. DeChambeau and Stanley both bogeyed the 18th hole to fall back to An, who was in the clubhouse at 15-under.

An earned $783,200 and 245 FedEx Cup points for his finish that is officially recorded as tied for second place with Stanley. An has seven top-15 finishes in 2018 with five on the PGA TOUR and two on the European Tour.
