Varner took to Instagram and spoke about why he was joining LIV.

“The truth is, my life is changing,” he wrote. “The opportunity to join LIV Golf is simply too good of a financial breakthrough for me to pass by. I know what it means to grow up without much. This money is going to ensure that my kid and future Varners will have a solid base to start on – and a life I could have only dreamt about growing up.”

Varner has earned $313,000 for finishing 31st & 26th respectively in the two LIV events he’s played. In addition to the money earned, players are awarded points. Points determines a player’s participation status for 2023.

It is noted that two or more of the LIV players with the lowest point totals after October 2022 will be cut from the LIV roster for 2023. Currently, Varner has zero points.

No one knows the heart of man or the hidden or stated reasons he decides the path of his future, we have no comment either way on Harold Varner’s decision to leave the PGA Tour. We wish him the best. Ed.
