Kamaiu Johnson shot a blistering record score of 10-under par 61 to secure a victory and $7500.00 1st place prize money at the famed 7115-yard par 71 TPC Scottsdale, site of the heralded WM Phoenix Open.

A seasoned veteran of the APGA Tour, Johnson earned status on PGA TOUR Latinamerica, becoming a standout on that tour as well.

“I was just trying to stay in the moment down the stretch. Wasn’t sure where I was, but I was comfortable because the other leaders were in my group,” offered Johnson, “Last week, I was 13 over after two days on the Latinoamerica Tour, and today, 16-under. I’ve never experienced anything like that. It just shows you what kind of a funny game it is that we play.”

Kamaiu Johnson is an inspiring golfer making waves in the golfing world. Born and raised in Tallahassee, Florida, Kamaiu discovered his passion for golf at a young age. Despite facing numerous challenges, he has overcome them and is now making a name for himself.

One of the most remarkable aspects of Kamaiu’s journey is his perseverance. Growing up in a low-income neighborhood, he faced financial constraints that made it difficult to pursue his dreams. However, he never let that deter him. Through sheer determination and hard work, Kamaiu secured a scholarship to attend a golf academy, where he honed his skills and developed a strong work ethic.

Kamaiu’s talent and dedication have not gone unnoticed, and in 2020, he received a sponsor’s exemption to play in a PGA Tour event. This opportunity came at the Farmers Insurance Open, where he showcased his skills alongside some of the world’s top golfers.

Beyond his golfing abilities, Kamaiu is also a role model and an advocate for diversity in the sport. He aims to inspire young golfers from underrepresented communities and break down barriers that may hinder their progress.
