Tiger was involved in a one car accident in front of his home, suffered minor injuries and was cited for careless driving and fined by the Florida law authorities.
Tiger withdrew from his own tournament (the Chevron Challenge), citing injuries from the accident as his reason.
Speculation and rumor began to surface about the cause of the accident being Tiger’s reported sexual encounters with numerous women.
Tiger issued a statement on his website indicating he had failed to live up to his own values and admitting to “unnamed transgressions.”
No less than 12 women have come forth to claim that they had ongoing affairs with Woods in the past three years. Read more
“I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf”

“I am deeply aware of the disappointment and hurt that my infidelity has caused to so many people, most of all my wife and children. I want to say again to everyone that I am profoundly sorry and that I ask forgiveness. It may not be possible to repair the damage I’ve done, but I want to do my best to try.
I would like to ask everyone, including my fans, the good people at my foundation, business partners, the PGA Tour, and my fellow competitors, for their understanding. What’s most important now is that my family has the time, privacy, and safe haven we will need for personal healing.
After much soul searching, I have decided to take an indefinite break from professional golf. I need to focus my attention on being a better husband, father, and person.
Again, I ask for privacy for my family and I am especially grateful for all those who have offered compassion and concern during this difficult period.”
“I have let my family down”

“I have let my family down and I regret those transgressions with all of my heart. I have not been true to my values and the behavior my family deserves. I am not without faults and I am far short of perfect. I am dealing with my behavior and personal failings behind closed doors with my family. Those feelings should be shared by us alone.”
Woods issues statement on crash. Woods at fault in crash, will get citation.

“As you all know, I had a single-car accident late last week, and sustained some injuries. I have some cuts, bruising and right now I’m pretty sore. This situation is my fault, and it’s obviously embarrassing to my family and me. I’m human and I’m not perfect. I will certainly make sure this doesn’t happen again. This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible. The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false. This incident has been stressful and very difficult for Elin, our family and me. I appreciate all the concern and well wishes that we have received. But, I would also ask for some understanding that my family and I deserve some privacy no matter how intrusive some people can be.”_
